More guest pics - Keith Davis

May 31, 2007

Just received the link for Keith’s pictures. Keith stayed with us in Bunaken and Lembeh in April and was one of our first guests to see our new daughter. He is 70 and has promised to visit us again to join Rebecca on her first dive in 10 years time!

He has put together a great website of his diving holidays all over the world, but first check out Keith in Bunaken and Lembeh

Two Fish Instructors

May 3, 2007

We recently received this great picture of two desperate divers. Both Erik (left) and Stephen (right) did their PADI Divemaster course with us back in 2003. Stephen went on to become a PADI Instructor, and he is now a PADI Staff Instructor working part-time in Thailand. As a Staff Instructor, Stephen does the normal courses but is also able to help out on Instructor Courses as well.

After his DM course, Erik went back to university in Sweden to finish his masters degree. Earlier this year he went to Thailand to take his Instructor course and exam, and whilst there he caught up with Stephen to relive old times. A keen underwater photographer, Erik has his own site dedicated to his trips to Sipadan and North Sulawesi. Checkout Eriks World.

Good luck to both of you guys and we hope to see you back here in Bunaken or Lembeh. If anyone else has some Two Fish photo’s they wish to blog here, please send them to us.

Youngest diver over Easter

April 11, 2007

We had a great time over Easter - the weather was blue skies and sun and the viz was 20-25m so the diving was perfect. We were full during the week before Easter and had a great crowd of guests, and we taught our youngest ever diver - Baptiste (picture top right) is only 10 years old and he passed his open water course with flying colours. He was visiting us with his older brother Zach and father Byrne (picture bottom right), they were here 2 years ago when we taught Zach to dive, and Baptiste has had to wait until turning 10 before he could follow in his brothers footsteps (or fin kicks!). Congratulations Baptiste, happy diving, and we hope to see you again.

Whale Shark almost spotted!

March 19, 2007

Celina was diving on one of the reefs on Bunaken when a whale shark was spotted by some other Two Fish guests on the same reef. “I almost cried!” said Celina, since this was a very rare occurance in Bunaken. However, it was just as well she missed it since her two friends, Tomas and Marco, arrived the next day and would have been really upset!

All three friends were on a holiday from their current postings with different French/International aid organsiations in Aceh helping with post-tsunami rebuilding efforts. They really appreciated the slow, relaxing diving with their own dive guide, and liked the friendly atmosphere of the resort and Bunaken Island in general.

They all loved the great visibility and diversity of marine life, as well as the amazing macro life – nudibranchs and mandarin fish were their favourites. Check out Two Fish Critters for an idea of what they did see whilst diving.

Best of the trip

March 18, 2007

Ken is a semi-professional photographer who visited us in Bunaken and Lembeh in Nov 2006. He considers this picture of a pygmy sea horse to be one of his best from his visit, but only of the one’s he has managed to go through so far - he has already posted a number of photos on his web site, but says that after a month’s worth of diving and over 9,000 photos, a lot of work still remains!

He is still trying to catalog his photos, and at the moment has identified 500 different species of sea life from just the one trip in Nov 06. “Absolutely amazing!” he says, and is tentatively planning to return in Nov 07.

Blue ringed octopus spotted

March 15, 2007

Lars and Susanne had a very rare sighting of the Blue Ring Octopus on their morning dive. It was found on one of the sites around Bunaken by their dive guide Maruf, fortunately there was only a small current which meant it was easier to take a photo. It is only 8-10cm long from tip of head to tip of tentacle so is really hard to spot, and they are extremely poisonous.
